Firstly, as Gogal proceeds his twenties, he begins to isolate himself from his parents and starts to develop a better relationship with his work and social manner. This is evident as the readers visualize his secretly formed relationship with Maxine. He tries on multiple occasions to fit in with her family, something he never tried to do with his own parents.
